What Affects the Cost of Lawn Mowing?
Property Size
The size of your lawn is the biggest pricing factor. Larger lawns require more time and equipment to mow properly.
Lawn Shape & Layout
A simple rectangular lawn is faster to mow than one with garden beds, trees, pathways, and tight corners. Complex layouts require more trimming and edging time — expect $25–$50 added where obstacles significantly slow the job down.
Property Access
Small gates or fenced areas may prevent use of larger commercial mowers, increasing service time. A locked gate or restricted access on the day adds $45 to cover the extra time needed.
Grass Length & Condition
We price standard mowing conditions as our base rate. If grass has grown out to 150–250mm, a 20% surcharge applies to cover the extra cutting time. Growth of 250–400mm adds 35%. Anything beyond 400mm is treated as a lawn restoration and quoted separately, not as standard mowing.
Grass Clipping Disposal
We mulch clippings back into the lawn as standard — this returns nutrients to the soil and keeps costs lower. If clippings need to be collected and removed instead, a 10–15% surcharge applies, and green waste removal starts from $60.
Yard Preparation
Please ensure toys, hoses, furniture, and other items are cleared from the lawn before our visit. Heavy leaf buildup that needs clearing before we can mow starts from a $25 charge.
Pet Owners
For the safety of our team and equipment, please remove all pet waste from the lawn before our visit. If equipment requires cleaning due to pet waste before moving to the next property, a minimum cleaning fee of $75 applies.
