Lawn Mowing Policy
Cutleaf Lawn Care & Garden Services
At Cutleaf, our goal is simple: to maintain healthy, attractive lawns all year round.
This policy explains how our lawn mowing service operates, what you can expect from our team, and how we determine when a lawn requires mowing.
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions. Where there is any inconsistency, our Terms & Conditions take precedence
-
We don't simply cut grass.
Every visit is completed with the long-term health of your lawn in mind. Our mowing schedules, cutting heights and service decisions are based on recognised lawn care practices and years of practical experience across Bass Coast and the Goulburn Valley.
Our aim is to provide a reliable, professional service while helping your lawn remain healthy throughout every season.
-
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a standard lawn mowing service includes:
Mowing all accessible lawn areas.
Edge trimming along fences, garden beds, buildings and paths.
Blowing grass clippings from hard surfaces.
Cleaning pathways, patios and driveways.
A visual inspection of your lawn for weeds, disease, pests or other issues.
If additional work is required, such as heavy edging, overgrown recovery, garden maintenance or rubbish removal, this may be quoted separately.
-
Every property grows differently.
Rather than following a calendar alone, we assess the growth and condition of your lawn.
One of the key principles we follow is the One-Third Rule.
This means we aim to remove no more than one-third of the grass blade during a single visit. Removing too much grass at once can place unnecessary stress on the lawn, reduce its ability to recover, encourage weeds and increase the risk of disease.
If your scheduled service falls at a time where the lawn has reached this growth point, we will complete the service.
-
Grass does not grow at the same rate all year.
Growth is influenced by:
Temperature
Rainfall
Irrigation
Fertiliser
Soil type
Shade
Grass species
As seasons change, your mowing frequency may also change.
-
Spring
Spring is typically the fastest growing period of the year.
Some properties may require weekly mowing to maintain lawn health and presentation.
Where necessary, we may recommend increasing service frequency.
Summer
Growth may slow during extended dry periods.
If your lawn has stopped growing due to weather conditions, we may recommend delaying or skipping a visit until growth resumes.
If irrigation is being used, mowing schedules generally continue as normal.
Autumn
Growth generally begins slowing.
Your scheduled service frequency may remain unchanged or be adjusted depending on growth.
Winter
Many lawns enter a slower growth period during winter.
Where appropriate, service intervals may be extended to suit seasonal conditions while maintaining lawn health.
-
Our services operate on scheduled maintenance rounds.
To provide efficient service across all customers, we allocate properties to planned service routes.
While we make every effort to attend on your usual service day, weather, public holidays, emergency works or operational requirements may occasionally require schedule adjustments.
-
If you wish to skip a scheduled service, we ask that you provide at least 7 days' notice.
This allows sufficient time to reorganise our service schedule.
Where less than 7 days' notice is provided, your scheduled visit may still proceed.
If our team attends your property and determines the lawn does not currently require mowing, we will skip the service and advise you accordingly.
-
Safety and lawn health are important to us.
Where practical, we avoid mowing excessively wet lawns as this may:
Damage turf.
Cause rutting.
Reduce cut quality.
Spread disease.
Damage equipment.
Where weather prevents safe operation, your service will be rescheduled as soon as practical.
-
Regular maintenance helps prevent unnecessary stress on your lawn.
If a property has become significantly overgrown, additional work may be required.
This may include:
Multiple mowing passes
Additional edging
Collection of excess clippings
Weed management
Equipment better suited to heavy growth
Overgrown lawns may incur additional charges, which will be discussed before work proceeds where practical.
-
To complete your scheduled service, we ask that clients ensure:
Gates are unlocked.
Pets are safely secured.
Vehicles are moved where practical.
Children's toys, hoses and other obstacles are removed from lawn areas.
If we cannot safely access the property, the visit may need to be rescheduled in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.
-
During our visits, our team may identify issues affecting your lawn such as:
Weeds
Fungus
Disease
Pest activity
Poor drainage
Soil compaction
Nutrient deficiencies
Where appropriate, we may recommend additional lawn care treatments.
These recommendations are optional and are intended to improve the long-term condition of your lawn.
-
Whenever practical, grass clippings are mulched back into the lawn to return nutrients to the soil.
Where excessive growth prevents mulching, clippings may remain on the lawn unless a collection service has been specifically requested.
Collection and disposal of grass clippings is available as an additional service.
-
To assist with quality assurance, staff training and record keeping, our team may take photographs of completed work.
These photographs help document completed services and may be stored within your customer file.
We will never intentionally photograph private areas unrelated to the work being completed.
-
To help us provide the best possible service, customers are responsible for:
Providing safe access to the property.
Advising us of any hazards.
Keeping pets secured.
Ensuring irrigation systems are clearly identified if vulnerable.
Reporting any concerns promptly after a service.
-
We understand every property is different.
If you have any questions about your lawn, mowing schedule or recommended service frequency, our team is always happy to discuss the best maintenance plan for your property.
Thank you for choosing Cutleaf Lawn Care & Garden Services.
