Garden Maintenance Policy
Cutleaf Lawn Care & Garden Services
At Cutleaf, we believe a well-maintained garden is more than just tidy—it is healthy, functional and enjoyable throughout every season.
This policy explains how our garden maintenance service operates, what is included in a standard visit, and how we manage gardens to achieve the best long-term results.
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions. Where there is any inconsistency, our Terms & Conditions take precedence.
-
Every garden is different.
Rather than following a fixed checklist, our team assesses the condition of your garden during each visit and prioritises work based on seasonal requirements, plant health and the time allocated for your service.
Our objective is to maintain the overall health, presentation and safety of your garden over time.
-
Depending on your service agreement, garden maintenance may include:
Weed removal from garden beds.
Hand weeding where appropriate.
Pruning of shrubs and ornamental plants.
Hedge trimming.
Removal of dead or damaged foliage.
Seasonal plant tidy-ups.
Leaf collection.
Light shaping of plants.
Mulching of small garden debris.
General garden clean-up.
Blowing paths and hard surfaces.
Visual inspection of plant health.
Services are completed within the allocated booking time unless otherwise agreed.
-
Gardens change constantly throughout the year.
Some visits may focus primarily on:
Weed control.
Pruning.
Leaf removal.
Disease management.
Seasonal growth.
Garden rejuvenation.
For this reason, the work completed at each visit may differ significantly from previous visits.
Not every plant will require attention during every service.
-
Weeds are a natural part of every garden.
Our team works to reduce weed growth through regular maintenance; however, no maintenance program can permanently eliminate weeds.
New weeds may appear between visits due to:
Rainfall.
Wind.
Birds.
Existing seed banks within the soil.
Neighbouring properties.
Some weed species require multiple treatments before they can be effectively controlled.
Where chemical weed treatments are recommended, these services may be quoted separately or completed as part of an agreed lawn and garden care program.
-
Plants are pruned to encourage healthy growth while maintaining their appearance.
Pruning methods vary depending on:
Plant species.
Growth habits.
Seasonal timing.
Flowering cycles.
Plant health.
Our team will avoid unnecessary heavy pruning unless specifically requested or required for plant health or safety.
Large reductions or reshaping may require additional labour and may be quoted separately.
-
Regular hedge trimming encourages dense, healthy growth.
For best results, hedges should be maintained regularly rather than heavily reduced after long periods of growth.
Major height reductions may require multiple visits to minimise stress on the plant.
Some species may take several growing seasons to regain their desired appearance after significant reductions.
-
During maintenance visits our team may identify issues including:
Pest activity.
Fungal disease.
Nutrient deficiencies.
Water stress.
Poor drainage.
Frost damage.
Heat stress.
Where appropriate, we may recommend treatments or additional services to improve plant health.
Recommendations are based on visible observations and are not intended to replace specialist arborist or horticultural advice where required.
-
Where fertilising forms part of your maintenance program, products will be selected based on seasonal conditions and plant requirements.
Results vary depending on:
Rainfall.
Soil quality.
Existing plant health.
Temperature.
Irrigation.
Fertiliser improves growing conditions but does not guarantee plant recovery or accelerated growth.
-
Some gardens require ongoing treatment for fungal diseases, pests or other plant health issues.
Many treatments require multiple applications over several weeks or months before noticeable improvement occurs.
Environmental conditions outside our control may affect treatment effectiveness.
-
Gardens require different care throughout the year.

Where green waste disposal is included, disposal fees may apply in accordance with your service agreement.
-
Our team takes reasonable care when working around irrigation systems.
Clients are responsible for identifying concealed irrigation components prior to work commencing.
We cannot accept responsibility for damage to irrigation systems that are buried, concealed or not reasonably visible.
-
Reasonable care is taken around ornaments, pots, outdoor furniture and decorative items.
Where practical, lightweight movable items may be relocated to safely complete maintenance before being returned to their original position.
-
To allow us to complete your service safely, we ask clients to:
Unlock gates where required.
Secure pets.
Remove hazards.
Provide clear access to work areas.
Advise us of any known risks before the visit.
If access cannot be safely obtained, the visit may need to be rescheduled in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.
-
Our team may take photographs before, during or after completing garden maintenance.
These photographs assist with:
Quality assurance.
Record keeping.
Client communication.
Future service planning.
Training.
Photographs are stored securely and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
-
To help us achieve the best results, we ask clients to:
Advise us of any concerns before the visit.
Inform us of newly planted or delicate plants.
Keep access clear.
Ensure pets are secured.
Notify us of any irrigation or underground services that may affect the work.
-
Healthy gardens develop over time.
Regular maintenance provides significantly better long-term results than occasional clean-ups or reactive work.
By maintaining your garden consistently, we can better manage plant health, reduce weed pressure, improve presentation and identify problems before they become costly.
-
If you have any questions about your garden, plant health or your maintenance schedule, our team is always happy to discuss the best solution for your property.
